1950's

The 1950's was a strong, empowered moment in time full of pastel style colours and expressionist art.   In war a lot of English people in the cyramic industry bought blanks to paint on and sell the idea that we were posh - the generic floral looking naturalistic england. Therefore, due to that, in the 1950's people like Pollock was praised for his work because he was an expressionist and demolishing the ideals that all had know for the past 15-20 years. 1952 was the time that industrial rationing was lifted for the Americans - 1953/4 was the time it was lifted for the UK.

The Great Exhibition
1951 - festival in London.
The sculpture that defied gravity was the most memorable sculpture of the Festival in London.
Shortly taken down after it being put to exhibit, the sculpture in the centre of London.
