Mark Ryden

Mark Ryden's Ladies on a Log. I love how this mixes oil/acrylic paint on a not-so-typical surface. They look very effective, very pretty and aesthetically pleasing. They're a combination of Rydens usual paintings separate from their typical stand within the actual complete paintings. I love the raw texture and how unique it looks.

'The Upset' is a book of Young Contemporary Artists that Ryden created the front page. The book is full of many interesting artists and Ryden crops up rather often. His art is very unique, usually huge and the concept of his art is usually picked up on due to how original and exciting they are.

This is a very Alice In Wonderland, inspired piece but with a extremely unique and quirky twist. I like how real it looks even though you can tell straight up its a painting. It gets your imagination going (definitely!!!) and it looks so perfectly constructed.

This is a crop of a part of Rydens lady in blood. The fairness on the skin and hair is something Ryden likes to repeat often; it gives it a very delicate, surreal effect.

This just wins my heart. I adore the contrast between colours and how comic-book-like it is. The cat is absolutely adorable and I love contrast with how the flowers grow around the cat. The worm and bug both add to how highly detailed this painting is and I find that beautiful.

This is a HUGE painting that Ryden only recently created! It is a female in water and the detail is phenomenal.
